2011 exclusive web interview

This is a short exclusive web interview done with Thomas Diamond in 2011 prior to any social media existence.

Interviewer: Hello. We are here with Thomas Diamond today for an exclusive web interview for Thomas Diamond Music. How are you today, Thomas? Or what do you prefer Tom, Tommy, Thomas?

Thomas: Tom is fine. All my friends and family call me Tom. I’m doing good, Thanks.

Interviewer: So let’s start with a few simple questions. I understand you write your own music?

Thomas: Yes. I have several projects in the works and a few pieces I need fine tune before I release it.

Interviewer: How did you learn how to play piano when you were young?

Thomas: In my senior year there was a grand piano hidden behind the backstage in the high school auditorium. It was just sitting there. It appeared like no one had ever even played it. I was surprised it was still in tune. Every day at lunch time I would sneak in there and play it. I was afraid someone might come in and kick me out but no one did. I never noticed but the high school counselor was always on the balcony listening to me play. By playing it whenever I could I became very good by the end of the school year. I only got to play it an hour a day until I got my very own piano.

Interviewer: You also mentioned that you never had a piano lesson in your life?

Thomas: Yes that’s correct.

Interviewer: Simply unbelievable. How did you manage to compose or play the way you do?

Thomas: When I look at a piano I look at it like a Rubik’s Cube. Everything comes together and I know what keys to push to create music.

Interviewer: I would really like to speak to some of the people that can confirm this. I just find it unbelievable by the way you play.

Thomas: That’s not a problem. Just don’t reveal their names. I want to shield all the people I know from the media.

Interviewer: I understand that you are releasing singles for purchase. Is there reasoning behind it? Why not release a full album?

Thomas: I don’t want to release an album with 15 mediocre songs and 1 good song. Every piece of music I write I strive to keep it at a very high standard. I’ve written many pieces but it’s just those few that I wrote I felt have lived up to expectations. I know it’s not possible to please everyone but I want every piece to be a hit with the listener. I’m a perfectionist if I don’t release anything soon it would take me literally a millennium to release anything so I decided to release each piece as singles.

Interviewer: So what is your marital status?

Thomas: Single.

Interviewer: Are you in a relationship? Do you have a girlfriend?

Thomas: All I can say is I’m single and I don’t talk about any relationship that I am involved. At this time I’m only concerned about completing some of my projects.

Interviewer: So what kind of woman do you prefer?

Thomas: I have no comment on that. Next question please.

Interviewer: Sorry just curious.

Interviewer: So tell me about your family.

Thomas: I’m sorry I can’t talk about my family. I respect their privacy and don’t want the media banging on their door asking questions about me. I’d be more than happy to talk about my music.

Interviewer: Can you tell me about your past job experiences?

Thomas: I’m sorry I can’t reveal where or who I work only that I always had a day job to support my music.

Interviewer: I understand that you do not use Facebook or any type of social networking. Why is that?

Thomas: My personal life is very private and I like to keep it that way.

Interviewer: Why did it take you nearly 20 years to finally reveal your talent why not sooner?

Thomas: With work and other obligations I can only spend so much time at the piano. I would like to be able to compose and write music full time if I could. My landlady is the one that is ultimately responsible for encouraging me to finally share my talent with the world. She heard me playing one day and said “Tom if you don’t share your talent with the world you would rob them of the most precious gift ever.” I’ve always kept my piano playing a very highly guarded secret and very personal.

Interviewer: What is your ultimate goal with your music?

Thomas: I want people to feel the same way my landlady feels when they hear my music. I want them to find a sense of happiness and peace when they hear every note.

Interviewer: You mentioned also you can take a Disney song and turn it to life?

Thomas: Yes. But I’m not doing any Disney arrangements or performing any publicly.

Interviewer: Why is that?

Thomas: Securing copyrights to them is a little harder so I’m focusing my talents and abilities in other areas. I’d be more than happy to perform them in a private setting for you.

Interviewer: What are your long term goals?

Thomas: I’m currently working on several projects. I can’t say what it is but as funding become available I hope to improve the content on my website with high quality video production. I want to please my fans with the best possible content. I’m also considering hiring an expert in music arrangement so I can focus on my abilities in other areas. I can reduce my workload greatly if I can find someone who can arrange music for me. I could arrange music myself except it consumes a large amount of my time especially if I decided I don’t feel the arrangement have lived up to its expectations.

Interviewer: Are you involved in any sports?

Thomas: Right now I’m just involved in physical training and some martial arts.

Interviewer: Do you play any sports right now?

Thomas: No I been too busy. I have very little to no time to myself. But I have family from Nebraska where everyone is crazy about football. We love to watch football but our family sport we play is tennis but unfortunately I haven’t had time to spend with them.

Interviewer: Do you have any plans to place your music on iTunes?

Thomas: We are looking into it right now. However I will have to get Apple to recognize my music label as a legitimate music company. I don’t want to sign away my creativity with any label just to have my music on iTunes. We can produce most things here with very little overhead. Right now all music and videos is exclusive only to Thomas Diamond Music. We’re focused mainly on digital property.

Interviewer: So what do you like to do when you’re not at the piano or at work?

Thomas: Unfortunately I have very little time to myself right now. I’m not getting any younger and feel time is against me right now. I’ve been extremely hard at work on my music. The other portion that takes up a lot of my time is physical training as well. I’m working to rebuild my definition and mass back to where they used to be before I got sick.

Interviewer: Have your management considered putting you up for America’s Got Talent or any other similar shows?

Thomas: They told me I already possessed a very unique talent and we could do our own advertising campaign. We chose to go a different avenue.

Interviewer: So where are you from?

Thomas: Dallas, Texas.
